This is my first Valentine’s Day as a married woman and the
first one that I actually get to spend with my husband! Since he’s in the
military, we did the whole long distance thing for the last few years and training
always got in the way. So this year I’m keeping it simple, I’m just glad that I’ll
be spending it with him. But of course, a wish list makes things easier on him!

Taylor Rutledge is a perfectly ambitious woman currently residing in Hastings, Minnesota. She is the owner and operator of Taylor's Handmade, where she makes dreamcatchers, decals, and more.
Taylor's Handmade originally came about when Taylor wanted a dreamcatcher off of Etsy, but prices were too steep. So she bought a ton of supplies and made her own. Now she is happy to offer something similar on her Etsy page, at an affordable price.

A few weeks ago, I was walking around Target with another military wife and I couldn’t help but blurt out, “Is it weird how excited I am to use my new planner?” To my surprise, she said no! She has also been looking forward to the beginning of the New Year, to start her new planner as well.
Being as busy as I am, I knew I needed to work out a system
that makes organizing my planner easy. So here is how I do it!
I use a Blue Sky Weekly/Monthly planner. I happened to pick
one up a few years ago and I’ve stuck with them ever since! I like these
planners because they have so many features: weekly calendar, monthly calendar,
and yearly reference calendars. There’s also a quick reference information
sheet, contact pages, and notes pages. Lastly, there is also a list of holidays
for the next four years, and a map that includes states, capitals, and time
zones.- 6:00:00 PM

This is exactly what I asked myself the first time I was asked to participate. I immediately started researching it to see if it was legit or not, but I didn’t really find anything definitive. So I decided to do it, and share my experience with you!
At first, I really didn’t understand how you could send 1
item and get 36 in return. So I asked a lot of questions. Personally, I think
that the rules for the gift exchange were just way too complicated.
In order for the exchange to work you need to:
1.
Send one gift (value of at least $10) to secret
sister that is #1 below
2.
Remove secret sister’s name from #1, then move
secret sister #2 to that spot.
3.
Add your name to #2 with your information (Name,
address, likes)
4.
Find 6 other people to participate
5.
Copy and paste the new information and send it
to your six
The whole process was a lot of work, and it only worked if
your 6 people were able to find 6 more people to do it too. Which wasn’t my
case.
I sent out my package to my secret sister and then I honestly
forgot about it. The way that I thought of it was this: If I don’t receive
anything I only wasted $10, but if I do receive something then it’s an even
trade, and if I receive more than one thing it’s a bonus!
I waited a few weeks and that’s when my first package
arrived! I was a little confused at first because I hadn’t ordered anything
recently, and that’s when I remembered the exchange!
I received a beautiful handmade necklace from Moon + Feather + Dang! The necklace was beautifully packaged and it was the perfect fit for
me! There was also a sweet handwritten note, and a bag of beautiful crystals.

Some of you may know this, but not many of you will. I am a Christ follower. I believe that he has a plan for me and although I do not always give him all of my anxieties, I am going to try much harder this year!
So I have written out a verse of encouragement in each month’s section of my planner. This month’s verse is Matthew 6:34.
“Therefore
do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has
enough trouble of its own.”
Ever since I can remember I have always dealt with anxiety,
but it didn’t get really bad until high school graduation. I remember that was
when I had my first panic attack. My stomach started hurting, and I got really
cold. Eventually it passed, but I still get these symptoms each and every time
that I get nervous. Now when I feel these symptoms coming, I pray for God to
give me strength for what’s coming.
Matthew 6:34 has always been my favorite verse, and that is
why I chose it for January’s verse of encouragement. I hope that each time I look
at my planner I am able to remember that I do not need to worry about tomorrow,
and if I do, I can cast those worries onto my Lord and Savior.
For those of you that deal with anxiety, or are followers of Christ, I have created a beautiful printout of this verse, and I’d love to share it with you! I hope that this verse brings peace to you and really resonates in your heart.

Have you ever been told you were too ambitious? I know I have, even by
my loving husband! Honestly, I think being ambitious is a good thing, even if
you have goals and dreams that you may never accomplish. I think it is still beneficial
to work towards them, which is exactly what I am doing.
I’m the kind of person that excelled through school, but decided not to complete a four year degree. 1 year in I realized that it just wasn’t for me. I did everything in my power to get to college, but once I was there I discovered I wasn’t doing it for myself. I was doing it for the title. I am a first generation college student, but that isn’t going to be what I’m known for. I should be known for doing what I love.

I am a first generation college student, but that isn’t going to be what I’m known for. I should be known for doing what I love.
I honestly do love to learn, just not in a way that gets me a degree.
There are so many things that I want to learn, and do, and this is why I’m told
that I am too ambitious. But is there such a thing as too ambitious?
Maybe I do want to do too many things, but is that necessarily a bad
thing? What if I spend my entire life working on my dreams, and I actually do
accomplish them? I don’t think that it’s a bad thing to be ambitious, in fact I
take it as a compliment, and it motivates me to continue doing what I love.
I am determined to keep trying, to keep learning, and to keep doing.
This is what makes me perfectly ambitious.
Here’s my current list of what I’d like to accomplish:
- Start a blog
- Write a book
- Open a shop
- Do photography
- Travel the world
- Learn lapidary
- Become a ladysmith
- Create art
- Develop a subscription box
