Book Haul: January 2017

6:00:00 PM

These are all of the books that I have purchased in January! I have received a few more from authors, but I want to keep those a secret until I post my reviews!

This Is So Not Happening
This Is So Not Happening is book three of the He'sSo/She's So Trilogy by Kieran Scott. I'd been interested in the series before, but I hadn't ever bought the books on my own. So it wasn't until everything was 90% off that I finally decided to swipe this one up. I really wish they had the rest of the series available though, because I really want to dive right in. I've been trying to add a little more romance into my own writing and I think this series might inspire me!

Marguax with an X
Marguax with an X is a standalone novel written by Ron Koertge. Since I have a thing for books with black covers, I was immediately drawn to it. It was the synopsis that kept me interested though. I've always been drawn to broken characters, since I've got a bit of a story myself; so I immediately felt connected to both book's protagonist. I just hope it's as good as it sounds!

Better Than Perfect
Better Than Perfect is book one of the Wild Cards series. I hadn't heard of it before, but as soon as I saw the author's name, I knew I needed to get it! Simone Elkeles wrote the Perfect Chemistry trilogy that I loved so much, so it's easy to say that I'm eager to read more of her work! Honestly, I'm not sure why I didn't look into her other books earlier!

The Summoning
The Summoning is the first book in the Darkest Powers trilogy. I hadn't heard of it before, but I didn't have to even read the entire synopsis to know that I wanted to dive right in. For one, there's a gemstone on the cover which will always interest me (former jewelry maker here)! Plus, it involves supernatural powers! I can't wait to find the last two books and get started!

Waterfall
Lauren Kate's Fallen series is one of my favorite series of all time! So, I couldn't help myself when I saw another one of her books on the shelf! Waterfall is the second book in the Teardrop series and I honestly can't wait to read it! If it's anything like her other series, then I know I'm going to like it!

Early To Death, Early To Rise
Early To Death, Early To Rise is the second installment in the Madison Avery series. When I first picked it up, I didn't realize that it was a part of a series. I was just drawn to the book after reading the  blurb on the back. Honestly though, I'll read just about anything that fits into the YA category as long as there's a little bit of magic involved. And the Madison Avery series definitely has that! I'm excited to get the rest of the series and get to reading!

Kiss & Break Up
Kiss & Break Up is the third book in a five part series. Honestly, I had no idea that there were so many books, but I look forward to diving into them! First though, I'll have to pick up Pretty on the Outside and Everything but the Truth. Then, I'll be able to get started!

The Implosion of Aggie Winchester
The Implosion of Aggie Winchester hasn't always been on my TBR list, but after reading the synopsis, I knew I had to get it! It sounded very relatable and honest and that's exactly what I look for in a book! Plus, after looking into the author's Goodreads profile, I might just have to add her other books to my TBR list too!

Love, Meg
Love, Meg is a standalone novel by C. Leigh Purtill. Personally, I've never heard of the author before, but I decided to give the book a try. I've been trying to read from both new and independent authors more, so I figured this fit the bill! And it doesn't hurt that it's got praise from another author that I love!

Never Cry Werewolf
Never Cry Werewolf is the first book in the Never Cry Werwolf Trilogy. Luckily, I picked up the first book, so I don't have to wait around to read it! I will eventually have to pick up the last two books in the series though: Sometimes by Moonlight and Always in Shadow. I look forward to reading them!

And Then Things Fall Apart
To be honest, I picked up And Then Things Fall Apart merely because there was a typewriter on the cover. I know I'm not supposed to judge a book by the cover, but I do it anyways! And lately, I've had a thing for typewriters! So, here's to hoping it was a good pick!

Shine
Shine is book three of the Shade Trilogy. I hadn't heard of the author or trilogy before, but the synopsis sounded interesting. Plus, it got a good review from the author of the House of Night series, which I loved! Now I just need to find the first two books: Shade and Shift!

And crazy enough, I picked up all of these books for just $9.23! I ended up saving $148.95!

Have you read any of these books before? What did you think of them?
