PAB Feature: Liz Woodiwiss

Liz Woodiwiss is a perfectly ambitious woman currently residing in Boise, Idaho! Funny enough, when I first interviewed Liz, she was actually living in Pendleton, Oregon – Home of the World Famous Pendleton Round Up. Crazy how things change!

She is the owner and operator of a blog titled Reflecting BeautifulLiz primarily writes about living a better life! Her lifestyle blog is focused on helping others find beauty in the every day.

Liz is passionate about so many things, some of which include: home remodeling, bullet journaling, Biblical marriage & relationships, cooking, essential oils, and her cats.

She claims that it’s impossible to pick one thing for her to blog about all the time! So she chose to create a blog that will allow her to write about all of her passions while also inspiring others to reach for and live out beautiful lives too!

When choosing her niche, Liz didn't start out with one specific category in mind. Instead, she decided that she wanted a lifestyle blog that could be focused more on improving quality of life instead of one particular area of interest.

She believes that becoming better versions of ourselves is one amazing way to change the world and if we aren’t always growing into the best possible person that we can be, then how can we expect to influence others to become their best as well? It really makes you think, now doesn't it?!

Liz is the kind of person that has always wanted to make a difference in the lives of other young women, and she hopes that through her blog she is able to inspire people to seek out the beautiful things in their lives and allow the beauty to empower them to be a little stronger, a little kinder, and a little more faithful!

In addition to blogging, Liz  is working on creating a Virtual Assistant business on the side. Previously she worked as a Programming Coordinator at the local Children's Museum; however, she left that job when she and her husband moved out of state. When asked about the trip, Liz said it was a "completely crazy and God-lead move."

When she's not working, you never know what you might find Liz doing! In her free time, she is known to be cooking, cleaning her house, or maybe even helping her husband with a remodel project.  For fun, she enjoys making greeting cards, snuggling her cats, watching crime shows, bullet journaling, and reading a good book!

Q & A with Liz
Q: Do you think it is good or bad to have dreams you may never accomplish? And why?
A: I think it’s good! Even if you never fulfill your dreams, they give you something to work towards. I don’t, however, think you should have an unattainable dream because that can be discouraging! Always have dreams that will inspire you to grow, not ones that will discourage.

Q: Have you ever been told you were too ambitious?
A: A time or two! I frequently take on more than I should be able to accomplish, but I don’t let that hold me back. Sometimes I have to reevaluate along the way, but it’s important to me to always be doing something worthwhile with my time and energy.

Q: How do you define perfectly ambitious?
A: A balance between being too ambitious and not ambitious enough!

Q: What makes you perfectly ambitious?
A: The ability to reach for something big without stepping on those around me. My greatest ambition is to inspire others to reach for their dreams as well, so I am happiest when I’m helping others reach their goals!

Q: What inspires you?
A: So many things! But I’m mainly inspired by other people who have overcome a big challenge and came out still smiling and determined to continue on. Beyond that, I’m inspired by kindness, love, and especially grace. I am often too hard on myself, expecting myself to be way better or to do more than I am or can, and when others recognize my fallibility and still encourage me to keep on, it’s amazing! My husband is the best example of this. He sees me every day, even in my weakest moments, and he still has multitudes of grace for my failures.

Q: What other perfectly ambitious women do you admire?
A: I think one of the ladies I admire most is Ruth Soukup from Living Well Spending Less. She’s real and honest about her issues and her past, and yet she has built an incredible business out of her real life struggles!

Q: What is your favorite blogging tip or resource?
A: This is a hard one. There are so many great resources out there…I think the best thing I have come across, though, is the Ultimate Bundles. They provide inexpensive opportunities to dip into literally hundreds of resources! My favorite blogging “tip” is to find community. You can’t do this alone! I’ve been so encouraged and motivated to press on and reach for my dreams by the other bloggers I’m meeting online and forming community with!

Q: What advice would you like to share with others?
A: Don’t sell yourself out just to make money. Be real and transparent. It’s scary, but the world is filled with unrealistic expectations, and no one can live up to that. Share a slice of your real life, and it will resonate with others!

Q: What music do you like to have playing while you're writing?
A: If I do have music playing, it’s going to be a random playlist with everything from classic rock to Mozart. Most of the time, however, I work without any music playing, because I tend to get distracted by the music! I do love to listen to audio books while I’m doing simple tasks like photo editing.

Q: What does your blogging process look like?
A: After coming up with an idea, I jot it down in my Bullet Journal on a running list of blog post ideas. Then, if it’s a tutorial of some sort, I will try it out and take photos while I work. At some later point, when I am ready to write the post, I will sit down and free write for 15 to 20 minutes, then take a break and edit my photos, create graphics, and do any research needed. Then I edit, format everything and publish! I am working on planning ahead a little better so I have a bank of ready to publish posts built up, but so far I don’t have a lot of extra time. Things tend to happen more last minute when I have an hour or two of free time!

Q: What are your future goals?
A: I would love to earn enough income from blogging and freelance writing to replace our current income. My husband and I are passionate about going into ministry, but it’s hard to make a living in ministry. It would be amazing if I can use my skills and passion for blogging to fully support us so we can turn that calling into a reality!I don’t have an interest in becoming a millionaire, or the biggest name on the web, but I would love to build up a sustainable income and use my blog/business to inspire others to pursue a more beautiful life.

Q: What do you want to accomplish?
A: If I can accomplish a life well lived, and inspire others to live their lives well, then I will feel that I have won at life! Beyond that, I want to partner with my husband to live many adventures and minister to young people, inspiring them to be the best they can be, to seek Godly relationships, and to change their world.
