Getting to Know Me a Little Better Q&A

6:00:00 PM

I stumbled upon Katie's blog a few days ago after she left a comment on one of my posts. I was scrolling through her website when I found a post titled, "GETTING TO KNOW ME A LITTLE BETTER." I honestly love learning about fellow bloggers, so I really liked the post. So much so, that I decided to answer the questions myself!

I share a lot on this blog and although you could put all the pieces together in the future, I don't really tell you guys a lot about myself. I really just touch upon my experiences and the things that I like. So, I want to make sure that I keep you guys updated and answer any questions you guys have about me :)

Q&A:

1. If you could do one thing differently in your life, what would it be?
Like Katie, I would slow down and enjoy my high school and college years. I touched upon it a little bit in my post, "Things I Wish I Had Done in My Teens." I really mean it though. I would go a little crazy, hang out with my friends more, and try to take less for granted. Things were easier back then and I should have taken advantage of it.

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
That's a hard one. In the literal sense, I'm a military wife so I could be anywhere. I'm hoping I'll either be in Connecticut, Washington, or Virginia. I hope to have more fur babies. I also hope that I'm running a successful business and blog, and I'll finally be a published author by then.

3. Do you honestly want kids?
I used to. I've known that I wanted three kids, two girls and one boy, since 8th grade. My feelings started to change though over the years. I've babysat and nannied more than 50 kids and I've worked in a child development center as well. I think I just had my fair share of taking care of children. I know some of you might be thinking it's not the same, but I was basically the parent for some of those kids. I spent more than 12 hours a day with some of them and even lived with others. My health also factors into this question. After my first diagnosis, I learned that many people with my illness frequently have miscarriages and I just don't think I would be able to handle that physically or emotionally. After adding more than a handful of other illnesses to my medical chart, I've come to the realization that I probably shouldn't have children. Part of me doesn't want to risk the chance of someone else having to go through my pain; and the other part of me can't guarantee that I can be all of the things a mother should be. If I can't take care of myself 100% of the time, I probably shouldn't have anyone else depending on me either.

4. What has been the best moment of your life so far?
I honestly don't know. I feel like the best thing that will happen to me hasn't happened yet. So I guess the best moment of my life is the moment I look back at my little accomplishments. I mean, I'm 21 and I've already done so much: I got married, I bought a house, I adopted three fur babies, I completed my Associates Degree, I've run my own business, I've started two blogs, and I am writing my first novel. These things aren't easy and they might seem small to others, but they are pretty big events in my life.

5. What is your life theme song?
This question caught me off guard, I don't know if I have one. I know my mom would answer "There Goes My Life," by Kenny Chesney. If my friends were here, we'd probably say "I'm Awesome," by Spose. (It's an inside joke!) I just don't really know if I've got one. If I had to pick the song that I connected with the most, it would probably have to be "Live Like You Were Dying," by Tim McGraw. I know I haven't gotten that terminal diagnosis yet, but I half expect to hear it anytime I go to the doctors. I already have more than 10 illnesses that can't be cured, so I already feel like my time could come at any moment. I try not to plan too far ahead and I try to make the most of everything.

6. What is one thing you have yet to accomplish that you want to do before you die?
Two things: publish a book and travel. Those are my two biggest dreams :) I know it says one, but I could never choose one thing over another.

7. If you could choose one thing to be known for, what would it be?
My voice. Not in the singsongy kind of way, but as a speaker. I want to be known for shedding light on the spoonie community and talking about the important issues. I want to be known for helping remove the stigma on chronic illnesses, both mental and physical.

8. If you could do anything you wanted right in this very moment (no consequences, no fear, etc.) what would it be?
Travel! I would get on a jet and head to Europe. Then I would backpack/roll myself around each country. I would see Ireland because I'm Irish (and it's beautiful). I would go to Wales to see the painting my family has in a museum. I'd visit all the obvious must visit places like London, Paris, Rome, etc. Lastly I would see Iceland!

9. What has been the most challenging moment in your life?
I honestly can't think of a moment that my life hasn't been challenging, but this year has definitely been the hardest. I've had tests, scans, hospital visits, and 7 new diagnoses as well as tons of new doctors. We're still not even sure what's completely wrong, but we're trying to figure it out. I've had to adjust and adapt to a lot. I'm just hoping it will all be figured out soon and we can begin treatment!

10. Summarize yourself in one word.
Determined.

I would love to keep this Q&A going throughout my blog. I'll make sure to post them as you guys send in questions! You can leave them in the comments or email me at perfectlyambitious@gmail.com

I'd also like to get to know each of you more! So feel free to answer the same questions on your blog or in the comments :)
