2016 Goals Update

6:00:00 PM

When I was first starting this blog, I decided to choose a name that not only represented myself, but others too. I wanted to let others know that it's ok to be perfectly ambitious.

In my first post, Perfectly Ambitious, I posted about all of the things that I'd like to accomplish this year. Today, I'm going to update you guys on my progress!

Start a blog
My blogging journey has been absolutely amazing these last five months! I have accomplished so much and I've met so many incredibly people. I've joined multiple blogging networks and I even created one of my own! I honestly wasn't sure how this blog would work out, since I've had a blog fail before. However, this one seems to be doing really well! I'm excited to see where else this blogging adventure takes me :)

Write a book
I can't put a check mark quite yet, since I haven't finished my book. However, I have made some awesome progress on my first draft! I'm participating in Camp NaNoWriMo again and I'm hoping to finish the first quarter of the book. Luckily, I'm already half way there! I've also started a blog series on writing a novel, which you can find here!

Open a shop
I'm proud to say that I've opened a shop. Unfortunately, I haven't given it the time and attention that it needs. I'm hoping to create more products this summer and get them uploaded quickly. If you're interested in checking it out, you can find it here!

Do photography
Although I'd love to be able to say that I've kept up with my photography, I just cant. I've been having trouble with my health, as you know, and it has made getting around and being outside quite difficult. Despite my illnesses, I did go to a botanical garden last weekend and I was able to get a couple of nice pictures. I'm hoping I'll be able to go out and get more sometime soon!

Travel the world
Zach and I make trips to Georgia quite frequently, but we haven't actually traveled the world like we want to. We are thinking about planning a trip this summer and I'm super excited about it. It won't be anything huge like going abroad, but I do think we'll be able to color in a new state on our map!

Learn lapidary + Silversmithing
At the end of last year, I decided that I was going to take lapidary and silversmith classes. Unfortunately, I didn't know how much my health would change over the course of a few months. I got all of the class information ready and started saving for classes. That's when we found out that I would need a right heart catheterization. Scheduling and attending classes just wasn't going to be doable for me. I hope that I'll be able to learn these skills in the future, but for now I'm just going to try and enjoy what I already know!

Create art
Thanks to purchasing a new home and creating a new blog, I have completed a tremendous amount of DIY projects this year! I have made all new sorts of decorations and I'm excited to continue them. I'm hoping to create some abstract paintings soon and I can't wait to see how they turn out! My most recent project was my initial door hanger with burlap roses.

Develop a subscription box
For a long time, I wanted to start a subscription box service. I really wanted to have a collection of handmade products from all over the world. Since I had a handmade business myself, I knew how important it is to keep handmade shops open. I want to support small businesses in any way that I can and I thought that this subscription box was the way. Unfortunately, I never started it. I realized that having a physical product is just too hard for me. So, that's when I decided to close down Charmed by Simplicity (my online shop) and the site I made for my subscription service. I realized that developing e-products would just be better for me and my schedule. Now I create printable artwork, binders, and more.

Honestly, the beginning of this year has been pretty crazy and things rarely went as planned. However, I'm pretty happy with how things are going right now. I've got a wonderful husband, a beautiful house, and three adorable fur babies.

  1. It sounds like you've had a hard year with health problems, but you've still been able to get a lot accomplished this year. The way that I like to look at goals is that even if I didn't reach them but they forced me to try something, then it's a win in my book. Hopefully you can get even more crossed off your list by the end of the year!

    1. I definitely have and thank you for your kind words! It's been a whirlwind and it's not over yet, but I'm not gonna let it stop me! I think you have a great outlook on goals. In fact, what you said actually sounds like a great answer to one of my Perfectly Ambitious Feature interview questions. Let me know if you'd be interested in participating :)

  2. I've definitely been there and learned my experience. I no longer loan money to anyone, either because they didn't repay me or because they used it inappropriately. I'm sorry that you had to experience that.

Hawaii sounds like a wonderful opportunity! I know that it can be hard to relax with all of that stuff going on, but I know that you can get through it. Just stay strong and put down your foot. You know what is best for you and you need to make sure that you're getting that. You're worth it, I promise!
